MARY P. MURPHY, ASID

Mary is a professional member of ASID and NCIDQ certified.   With an Interior Design degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and over 25 years of experience, she sustains her creativity through research and continuing education.   A 16-year partner with Interior Design Group, Mary has mastered the flexibility to work with a variety of personalities and styles and to create harmonious interiors that capture the essence of the individuals.  For her, each interiors project is a story she reads through her clients’ eyes where the final chapter comes to life through an inspirational collaboration with her clients.  Her projects culminate with extraordinary solutions that function, delight, and encapsulate her clients’ dreams.

  • What do you consider successful design?

Knowing I have empowered my clients to take ownership of their dreams, so they can say upon completion of a design project that it went beyond their expectations.  More importantly, that there is no trace of my personality in their home – only theirs.

  • How does your design process begin?

Listening.  Actually hearing and seeing (through emotion) what clients need and want and being able to discern the difference.

  • What do you feel is your responsibility as a designer?

To always provide functional, beautiful design and to continually keep clients informed throughout the design process enabling them to make decisions with confidence.

  • Guilty pleasure?

Psych and Monk.  It’s in the details!
